Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay will keep fantasy football owners across the globe on edge as they head to their league playoffs.
Friday, in the afterglow of the Rams’ dominant 24-3 win over the visiting New England Patriots on Thursday night, wouldn’t publicly say rookie running back Cam Akers is his No.1 running back even after the second-round pick had a monster game against the Patriots as he ran for 171 yards on 29 carries.
Sean McVay says they’re so pleased w/ Cam Akers and proud of him, but they aren’t going to publicly commit to a non-committee approach.

I’d note, before anyone freaks out, that as we have seen in last 2 games it shouldn’t preclude Cam from getting the touches when he’s hot.
The performance was the best of the season for the Florida State product. Akers now has 528 rushing yards on 109 carries for a tidy 4.8 yard per carry average and he has two rushing touchdowns. Darrell Henderson, the starter for much of the season, has 564 yards on 125 carries (4.5 per carry average) and five touchdowns. Malcolm Brown has 386 yards on 90 carries (4.1) and five rushing touchdowns.
The bottom line is the Rams’ running attack is flying high. McVay doesn’t have to name a starter for the rest of the way. But it is clear, after Thursday night, Akers will be a big part of the offense moving forward whether he is the named the starter or not.
