The Los Angeles Rams will not know if they will have top tight end Tyler Higbee at the Miami Dolphins on Sunday until game day.
Rams coach Sean McVay said Friday that Higbee will be a game-time decision. The team’s training staff will take all the time it can get Higbee prepared to play and it will not be known until the Rams announce their game-day inactives at 8:30 a.m. PT on Sunday if he will play or not.
Higbee has a serious hand contusion that kept him out of the Rams’ 24-10 home victory over the Chicago Bears on Monday night. It was a surprise that he didn’t play in that game because the Rams expected him to be ready. Higbee has been limited in practice all of this week.
If he can’t play against Miami, the Rams will go with Gerald Everett and Johnny Mundt, who had a nice game against the Bears, against the Dolphins.
Meanwhile, defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson was activated Friday, as expected, but it is unclear if he will play Sunday. The free-agent pickup has been out since the summer with a cardiovascular issue.
