In Week 5, rookie Cam Akers led the Rams in rushing against the Washington Football Team with 61 yards on nine carries. It was the brightest spot for the 2020 second-round pick this season as he’s struggled to carve out a role behind veteran Malcolm Brown and second-year back Darrell Henderson.

But despite that potential shown, coupled with head coach Sean McVay telling the media that he wants to get Akers more involved, it’s even more crazy to see him go another week without a single touch on offense. In fact, despite being healthy and able, Akers received just one snap against the Bears on Sunday night.
In contrast, the duo of Brown and Henderson combined for 25 carries for 121 yards and a touchdown to go along with a pair of catches for 13 yards, both by Henderson.
So what’s the deal? Is Akers actually a little more rundown than we all have been led to believe after his rib injury? Is McVay saving him for later in the season, or is he simply just not up to the level that the Rams need him to be at the professional level?

It’s quite frustrating for fans, and people like me who drafted him in almost every fantasy league after falling in love with him as a prospect at Florida State.
As of right now, how confident is everyone in the Rams’ decision to draft a running back with their first pick of the 2020 draft and now he’s sitting on the bench with no responsibilities? Does anyone believe he’s the future of the run game, or will it continue to be a committee for the foreseeable future?
