The Rams were squarely in the top-10 of most power rankings prior to their Sunday night tilt with the 49ers, and despite the 24-16 loss, they’ve managed to hold on to a top spot once again.

In ESPN’s latest edition of their weekly rankings, the Rams come in at #10, just one spot above the 5-1 Bears — their next opponent — and one spot behind the 3-2 Saints.

Rams beat reporter Lindsey Thiry believes that the team’s the lack of significant injuries has played a huge role in this team exceeding early expectations through the first six weeks of the season.

“The Rams have mostly avoided serious injuries, with the exception of left guard Joe Noteboom (calf) and safety Jordan Fuller (shoulder), who were placed on injured reserve but are expected to return after being replaced by experienced starters. So the most significant injury was to Akers, who suffered separated rib cartilage in Week 2 and was sidelined for two games. A second-round pick from Florida State, Akers started the first two games and appeared on track to play a large role. Despite returning to health and rushing for 61 yards on nine carries in Week 5, Akers did not have a touch in Week 6.”

The Rams next month of action includes four opponents with a combined record of 17-6, including the 5-0 Seahawks. The team’s bye is sandwiched in the middle of those games, right before they host Seattle, so despite the tough stretch, the Rams are set up to have some much-needed extra preparation.
