Rams rookie running back Cam Akers will miss his second straight game with a ribs injury Sunday against the New York Giants at SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles coach Sean McVay announced Friday.

It’s not a big surprise Akers is not going to play. It has appeared that way all week, but he did make some progress Friday as he was working on the side at practice. Perhaps that is a sign he may have a chance to play in Week 5 at the Washington Football Team. Akers was injured in Week 2 at Philadelphia and has not played since. The second-pick from Florida State was the starter going into the season.

However, 2019 third-round pick Darrell Henderson has been a breakout star in Akers’ absence and he will likely remain the starter unless he falters. Henderson has 201 yards in three games. So, expect the Rams to continue to run the ball often against the Giants.

Meanwhile, rookie starting safety Jordan Fuller is listed as questionable with a shoulder issue. Yet, there is hope that he will play Sunday.
