Washington Football Team quarterback Alex Smith has entered the game against the LA Rams. Starter Kyle Allen took a hard hit from Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who initiated helmet to helmet contact and received a 15-yard penalty on the play. This is the first time that Smith has played in an NFL game since breaking his leg on November 18, 2018.

I wrote here on Turf Show Times on Oct. 3 that it was possible the Rams could be the first team to face Smith in a game, but I am surprised that it actually did happen that quickly. The Football Team was apparently unsure about moving forward with starter Dwayne Haskins at the time and then Haskins benched one week later. This elevated Smith to backup and Allen to starter. Allen rushed for a touchdown earlier in the game.
Smith completed his first pass attempt, gaining six yards on a throw to J.D. McKissic.
Kyle Allen is questionable to return with an arm injury. Haskins called in sick with a stomach virus and is not available.
Update: Allen has been cleared to return, but Smith remains in the game.
