Los Angeles Rams to move on from RB Coach Skip Peete

The changes continue.

Los Angeles Rams Head Coach Sean McVay isn’t playing around. Earlier today, McVay informed Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips that his tenure with the Rams was over as the Rams elected to pass on negotiating a new contract with the legendary DC.

Now, the Rams have parted ways with RB Coach Skip Peete:

This move doesn’t really come as a surprise when you consider just how large of a step back the rushing attack took this past season. The Rams averaged 93.7 yards-per-game on the ground, a figure that was good for 26th in the league.

The Rams elected to hand RB Todd Gurley a massive contract extension prior to the season, following that move up with the re-signing of veteran RB Malcolm Brown, and then drafting third-round RB Darrell Henderson.

The results simply weren’t good enough, though some of that blame absolutely must be placed on the offensive line, maybe even majority of the blame.

One thing to note: Gurley lobbied for McVay to keep Peete when he took the keys of the franchise in 2017. Could this mean something for Gurley moving forward? We’ll find out.
