Kicking off the 2019 season, the Los Angeles Rams will play against the inter-conference Carolina Panthers, on the road. The Rams look to rebound off an ugly Super Bowl performance with another strong season under Head Coach Sean McVay’s regime, while the Panthers look to remain competitive in the NFC South and return to the playoffs.
Let’s have a look at the pregame inactives for both teams:
Rams:
#LARams inactives for #LARvsCAR:
— Stu Jackson (@StuJRams) September 8, 2019
WR Nsimba Webster
CB David Long Jr.
LB Ogbonnia Okoronkwo
C Coleman Shelton
LT Bobby Evans
TE Johnny Mundt
DT Greg Gaines
Not too many surprises here, though defensive tackle Greg Gaines was certainly expected to play an early role as a rookie, primarily as a run-stuffing nose tackle. This means the defensive tackle/nose tackle duties will be split among the trio of Sebastian Joseph-Day, Tanzel Smart, and Michael Brockers.
Panthers:
Panthers inactives - DT Vernon Butler
— Jourdan Rodrigue (@JourdanRodrigue) September 8, 2019
OT Greg Little (concussion)
DE Bruce Irvin (hamstring)
LB Jordan Kunaszyk
QB Will Grier
WR Brandon Zylstra
OL Brandon Greene
Re. Butler, wow.
The Panthers’ inactives are all as expected, outside of defensive tackle Vernon Butler. Butler was a highly drafted player by the Panthers a few years back in anticipation of becoming an eventual starter, though the Panthers are quite loaded at defensive tackle, making him inactive.
It’s game time.
