The Los Angeles Rams open the 2019 regular season by traveling to face the Carolina Panthers in Week 1.
But after resting the starters in the preseason for a second consecutive year, it means they’re starting off with a very light injury report. As in very, very, very light:

---|---|---|---|---|---|---|

Andrew Whitworth | T | Not Injury Related | - | DNP | Full | - |
Yup. Not a single player listed on the initial report.
LET’S KEEP IT THAT WAY ALL YEAR, YEAH? K, GOOD.
For the Panthers, it’s similarly sparse though one Panther is notably unlisted: QB Cam Newton.
Newton injured his foot against the New England Patriots in the Panthers’ third preseason game and was wearing a boot afterward. A week later, Panthers Head Coach Ron Rivera said “there was no doubt” in his mind that Newton would be available for Week 1. That’s seemingly the case, now:

Trai Turner | G | Groin | - | Limited | Full | - |
Greg Little | T | Concussion | DNP | DNP | DNP | Out |
Bruce Irvin | LB/DE | Hamstring | DNP | DNP | DNP | Out |
Two major concerns for the Panthers, then.
Little has been in the concussion protocol since that preseason game against the Pats while Irvin is nursing a hamstring issue. A year ago, the Panthers were already in an injury crisis headed into Week 1 (narrator: It would get worse...).
