While the Los Angeles Rams set their initial 53-man roster this weekend along with establishing their initial practice squad, the roster will always remain in flux throughout the regular season.
That fluidity was reinforced today when the Rams made two moves placing EDGE Justin Lawler on Injured Reserve (IR) and then signing C Coleman Shelton to the 53-man roster.
Lawler had foot surgery earlier last month, but the decision to initially place him on the 53-man and then designate him to IR would allow him to return to the roster after eight weeks.
Shelton landed with the Arizona Cardinals out of Washington in 2018. At UW, he played all five line positions ultimately landing at center for the 2016 and 2017 seasons the latter of which he was named to the All-Pac 12 team.
He didn’t log any gametime last year with Arizona, but he’ll be involved in practice sessions this week as the Rams get ready to face the Carolina Panthers in Week 1.
