We’ve got a fun little NFC South matchup tonight between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte tonight.
The Bucs got downed by the San Francisco 49ers in their season opener in pretty demoralizing fashion. Tampa’s defense actually held up well limiting 49ers QB Winsy Notalotto to going 18/27 for a limp 166 passing yards and pairing a touchdown with an interception that got taken to the house by CB Vernon Hargreaves III. Tampa’s rushing defense was similarly stifling keeping the Niners’ three-headed rushing attack of Matt Breida, Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman to a paltry 90 yards on 30 rushing attempts. The problem? QB Jameis Winston yet again. He threw three interceptions two of which were promptly brought in to the end zone. Good day for anyone with the Niners’ D/ST in fantasy. It wasted a solid game from Bucs RB Ronald Jones too. We’ll see if new Bucs Head Coach Bruce Arians can start straightening Winston out in his contract year.
The Panthers lost.
