NCAA Football: Michigan at Ohio State — College football is fun.

College football! The fun! The funk! The chaos!

The 2020 NFL Draft starts than eight months from today, but the action supporting it is already on and popping.

A couple of things to keep an eye on today.

#5 Ohio State Buckeyes QB Justin Fields’ debut

The Ohio State, after the most petty, pitiful, self-depricating, perfect lawsuit in recent college football history (and that’s saying something), heads into the season with a ton of expectations after falling short three of the last four years and scoring 0 points in the year they did make it into the playoffs.

OSU is absolutely stacked this year as they are every year. They have reason to consider themselves among the early favorites to make the playoff. Much of that reason rests upon the breadth of the talent on their roster. And at quarterback.

Fields transferred from Georgia to tOSU to get on to the field without having to wait and battle against the UGA depth chart next year. No knock on him for doing so, but it means he has to provide early.

This is his first real showing. And for OSU to face Florida Atlantic (before Cincinnati and Indiana and Miami-Ohio) gives Fields a soft landing into the season. Let’s see what he, and tOSU, makes of it.

Northwestern Wildcats at #25 Stanford Cardinal

Why is this most normal but good non-conference game between writers and scientists being played in Week 1? Northwestern? Stanford? Should I wear a damn cardigan in August? Seriously, do I have to go buy a cardigan?

This should be a very good game between two good football teams.

It makes me feel gross.
