Los Angeles Rams projected to be awarded two compensatory picks in the 2020 NFL Draft

Looks like fans can expect two fourth-rounders to come our way next February.

Over the Cap’s Nick Korte updated his compensatory pick projections for the 2020 NFL Draft today and has the Los Angeles Rams earning two such picks both in the fourth round for the departures of OG Rodger Saffold III and S Lamarcus Joyner though there is a pretty risky asterisk here.

The Rams signed Clay Matthews after his deal expired with the Green Bay Packers, so he counts against the formula for the Rams. That signing is offset though by the loss of RB C.J. Anderson who played out his curtailed deal with the Rams only to sign with the Detroit Lions this offseason. So Anderson has to qualify with the Lions to keep our two picks; OTC generally projects that to qualify, a player has to remain on his new team beyond Week 10.

Players like S Eric Weddle, ILB Mark Barron, C John Sullivan and DT Nadmukong Suh all do not affect the Rams’ comp picks as they were not compensatory free agents.

While both QB Sean Mannion and ILB Ramik Wilson were though, their deals were limited to such a degree that neither affect the formula.

We’re a long way away from being awarded our comp picks next February, but as of now we can consider adding two fourth rounders to our haul.
