Thus far, Pro Football Focus’ list of their top 101 players in the 2018 NFL season has covered the players they ranked 76-101 and 51-75. Today, they’ve revealed players 26-51, and two more Los Angeles Rams have been unveiled:
49. Robert Woods, WR, Los Angeles Rams
Top 101 appearances: New entry
Robert Woods had a career-year in 2018 as the Rams’ best pass-catcher. He finished with an overall grade of 88.0, ranking eighth among wide receivers. Woods dropped only two balls on 88 catchable targets, tying for the 14th-best drop rate (2.3%) out of 108 players at the position.
Woods continues to prove to have been a fantastic signing as the Rams made him a priority under the new regime of Head Coach Sean McVay. A pristine route runner with phenomenal hands and fantastic effort, there’s nothing Robert Woods cannot do on a football field.
29. Andrew Whitworth, LT, Los Angeles Rams:
Top 101 appearances: 7
Simply put, there hasn’t been a more consistent performer at the left tackle position than Whitworth, and at age 37, Whitworth continued his premier play this season. His overall grade of 82.7 was good for fifth among all offensive tackles in the NFL through the regular season, and as always, the All-Pro was as solid as they come in pass protection where he allowed 33 total pressures from 601 pass-blocking snaps.
Like the guys at PFF said, there isn’t a more consistent and consummate professional than Whitworth whose play continues to remain at a tremendous level regardless of age. If Whitworth returns to the Rams in 2019, they’ll likely once again be set at left tackle with his performance showing no signs of slowing down.
The two brings the tally of Rams on the list to seven in total:
- #29.) LT Andrew Whitworth
- #49.) WR Robert Woods
- #54.) RT Rob Havenstein
- #69.) QB Jared Goff
- #71.) SS John Johnson III
- #87.) CB Nickell Robey-Coleman
- #95.) DT Ndamukong Suh
