With free agency right around the corner and the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine underway, the NFL rumor mill is beginning to pick up.
According to DraftAnalyst.com’s Tony Pauline, the San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets have interest in courting Los Angeles Rams OLB Dante Fowler Jr in free agency:

But, the #Jets & #49ers are in on the potential free agent pass-rusher.

In his report, Pauline also mentions that the Rams do have interest in re-signing Fowler, but the market could dictate otherwise. Obviously both the Jets and 49ers have a ton of cap space as the Jets currently sit at $104m and the 49ers at $69m. The Rams come in at a distant third place with only $25m and plenty of their own free agents to make decisions on.
Fowler was added in a midseason trade which had the Rams send over a 2019 NFL Draft third-round compensatory draft pick and a 2020 NFL Draft fifth-round pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars for Fowler. Fowler registered two sacks in eight regular season games, though his total output was 3.5 sacks in 11 games (including the playoffs).
Gear up, the offseason is officially here.
