Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff rises again in NFL.com’s QB index

Even with a flashy performance in Arizona, Jared Goff is still ranked lower than “barely-starters” like QB Garner Minshew.

Hey, jumping four spots in any sort of ranking seems like a good thing. However, the Los Angeles Rams quarterback, Jared Goff if you’re living in a cave and just crawled out, is still egregiously underrated on NFL.com’s QB index, which just released their Week 14 ranking.

Here is what they had to say about Goff:

So, Goff throws for 424 yards and puts together a 120.7 passer rating and he’s one of the 12 worst quarterbacks that played last Sunday? Apparently, the defense for the Arizona Cardinals isn’t very impressive. That tracks.

Goff’s 12 interceptions is what’s killing him on the rankings. And the 5 fumbles lost isn’t helping. In comparison, QB Matt Ryan is ranked 15th and also has 12 interceptions. But, Ryan has thrown for 20 touchdowns vs. Goff’s 13 TD passes.

It’s been popular in Rams Twitter to argue about who is to blame in regards to the LA Rams’ struggles this season. Is it Goff’s accuracy and decision-making? McVay’s reluctance to implement RB Todd Gurley into the offensive scheme in order to get the play-action game working? Is the offensive line the issue?

Truth is, it’s probably a mix of those and a good portion of misfortune. Even a strong performance in a victory over the Arizona Cardinals can’t obscure the fact that Goff has been turning over the ball too much this season.

Of course, the Rams can win the way Goff is playing, it just won’t be pretty.

If Goff can replicate this showing for the upcoming Week 14 SNF game vs. the Seattle Seahawks, then his perception will most likely change.
