Los Angeles Rams at San Francisco 49ers second half open thread

Ups and downs.

In their most important game of the season, the Los Angeles Rams have come alive in their Week 16 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. Leading all half, the Rams are currently down 24-21 due to a silly decision by QB Jared Goff.

Thus far, the offense has done a tremendous job staying on schedule and protecting Goff adequately. The play-calling and gameplan designed by Head Coach Sean McVay have worked to perfection, with the Rams totaling 21 points in the first half and over 200 total yards.

Goff has looked sharp, but a crucial mistake on a swing pass turned into a pick-six and dampened his entire half of work. The decision was a terrible one and ultimately put the 49ers in the lead. The run game has yet to be effective on a per-carry basis, but RB Todd Gurley punched in two goal-line carries for touchdowns. TE Tyler Higbee is once again coming alive with six catches for 71 yards.

Defensively, the team has had their struggles, notable against creative screens designed by Head Coach Kyle Shanahan. CB Jalen Ramsey pulled down his first interception in horns and has looked incredibly active as a tackler. The pass rush hasn’t registered much of an impact statistically.
