As if the Los Angeles Rams weren’t going to do anything today... They’ve traded cornerback Aqib Talib and a 5th-round pick to the Miami Dolphins for a future draft pick:

The moving of Talib creates roughly $4m in cap space for the Rams, now bumping them up to roughly $9.6m in cap space, creating flexibility for whatever the Rams prefer to do pre-trade deadline.

General Manager Les Snead was ultimately able to find a take for Talib after he was shopped the past few weeks. Talib was place on injured reserve two weeks ago after he suffered a rib injury. Talib’s age really showed in the first five weeks as he struggled mightily, and has actually been effectively replaced by backup Troy Hill.

The Rams will move forward with Jalen Ramsey and Hill starting outside, and Nickell Robey-Coleman manning the nickel spot.

Stay tuned to find out what the “future draft pick” is that the Rams have received from the Dolphins.

(Updated)

With the Dolphins eating that amount of Talib’s salary, the Rams should be sitting somewhere near $10.5m in cap space.

UPDATE #2:

The Rams will receive a future 7th-round pick from the Dolphins.
