Los Angeles Rams open with major concerns on initial injury report for Week 8 vs. Cincinnati Bengals

With several notable players already on IR, the Rams have some other names to track on the injury report this week.

The Los Angeles Rams are off to London in Week 8 to take on the winless Cincinnati Bengals, and they’re bringing some injury concerns with them via the initial injury report:

The Rams are practicing this week at Georgia Tech’s facilities in Atlanta, so it’s a bit of an unusual workweek for a bit of an unusual game. So nothing big then that LT Andrew Whitworth got a veteran day off to start things.

While we knew LB Clay Matthews would be out, the other three carry concern.

RB Malcolm Brown missed Week 7 and all three practices with his ankle injury last week. We’ll see if he can get involved in a limited fashion moving forward and if that might offer him a higher game designation than “doubtful” which he was listed last week.

LB Bryce Hager is on the report again with a shoulder injury. Not sure if it’s the same one that pushed him out of action in Week 4 when he was ruled out, but Hager was inactive in Week 7 despite not being on the injury report. Wonder if it’s a lingering issue that now he can rest up having been replaced by LB Troy Reeder in game action.

Seeing CB Troy Hill listed here might be the biggest concern. With CB Aqib Talib on IR, Hill was tabbed to play across from CB Jalen Ramsey who came in following CB Marcus Peters’ departure via trade. With him down, the Rams staff would have a tough decision on whether to work in the diminutive CB Darious Williams or play 2019 NFL Draft third-round rookie CB David Long, Jr., who was inactive for the Rams’ first six games.

The Bengals have a lengthier list of their own:

Here’s what they had to say over at Cincy Jungle, the SB Nation community for Bengals fans:

Zac Taylor said in a press conference earlier this week that he wanted A.J. Green to go through a full practice. He may soon his wish, as Green (ankle), veteran wideout and last hope to salvage the season, is inching his way toward a full recovery. Even though he was limited, he still went through a number of drills and is looking better by the day.

Full participants in practice included Cordy Glenn, who was done serving his suspension, and William Jackson (shoulder), as well as CB Tory McTyler (shoulder). Andrew Brown (ankle) was also listed.

Other than Green, fellow Pro Bowler Carlos Dunlap (knee) was promoted from DNP to limited, with offensive linemen John Miller (groin) and Andre Smith (ankle).

The list of players not participating keeps getting smaller and smaller, but a few names still remain. Tyler Eifert got his usual Wednesday rest day. Carl Lawson (hamstring) is still out, and cornerbacks Darqueze Dennard (hamstring) and Dre Kirkpatrick (knee) were also.
