Los Angeles Rams at Atlanta Falcons Week 7 Thursday injury report

Jalen Ramsey took the field just one day after touching down in LA

NFL: NFC Wild Card-Atlanta Falcons at Los Angeles Rams Robert Hanashiro-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Rams are working to piece things back together, having a lost players on both sides of the ball - via injury and trade - earlier this week. They’ll head to Atlanta tomorrow in preparation of their Week 7 matchup against the Falcons.

The major storyline this week has been the Rams’ acquisition (via trade) of cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who after being traded on Tuesday, arrived in Los Angeles yesterday. He was on the field Thursday, and the Rams are obviously hopeful that they can get him healthy (back) and up to speed extremely quickly. Having him available against Julio Jones this Sunday will be huge for their defense.

Todd Gurley has also been one to monitor, after having sat out last Sunday with a quad injury. In Head Coach Sean McVay’s press conference earlier today he stated that Todd was progressing nicely, providing optimism that he’d be green-lighted for a juicy matchup against a struggling Falcons’ defense. Malcolm Brown (ankle), however, remains “day-to-day” and did not practice on Thursday. If he can’t go, expect to see more of rookie RB Darrell Henderson Jr.

Here’s a look at the Rams’ Thursday injury report:

Over at the Falcoholic, the SB Nation community for fans of the Falcons, they had this to say:

The Falcons offensive line has been banged up all season long, and there may be more shuffling with that unit in Sunday’s tilt against the Rams. Starting left guard James Carpenter did not practice on Thursday with a knee injury, tossing a large question mark into Atlanta’s game plan on offense.

Carpenter was listed as limited on Wednesday but was downgraded to DNP on Thursday, meaning that Sunday’s likely starting guards will be Jamon Brown and Wes Schweitzer. Where either will be used is also up in the air, as there’s the possibility that the team is more comfortable with Schweitzer’s experience on the right side of the line and electing to shift Brown over to the left.

Cornerback Desmond Trufant was held out for a second consecutive day, and it’s looking increasingly likely that the toe injury that he’s battling will again hold him out in this week’s game.

Julio Jones (hip), Ricardo Allen (knee), and Adrian Clayborn (knee) were all limited in Wednesday’s practice, but we haven’t seen any news that would put them in jeopardy for Sunday’s game.

The same can be said for both fullback Keith Smith and and backup corner Blidi Wreh-Wilson, who were also listed as limited.

Final report with game designations out tomorrow.
