The Los Angeles Rams lost starting left guard Joseph Noteboom to a season ending injury in Week 6, and they’ve just acquired help via a trade with the Cleveland Browns, securing the services of offensive lineman Austin Corbett:
Welcome to LA, @BigCorbs73! #LARams have traded for OL Austin Corbett.

Corbett, the 33rd overall and the first pick of the second round in the 2018 NFL Draft, had trouble cracking the lineup with the Browns. While he was drafted to become an eventual starter, he never earned it. Corbett was a former left tackle in college who was expected to transition inside in the NFL. Former Rams OL Eric Kush won the left guard job in camp leaving Corbett a second-stringer ever since.
The compensation likely a late round pick in the hopes that Offensive Line Coach/Run Game Coordinator Aaron Kromer can tap the potential in Corbett. He has the potential to start for the Rams at guard once he’s caught up to speed. This won’t really affect the Rams’ salary cap as Corbett’s cap hit is only $531k, leaving the Rams with nearly $2.8m in space, per Over The Cap.
(UPDATED at 5:05pm ET)
It’s a 2021 fifth-round pick:
Compensation update: The #Rams traded a fifth-round pick in the 2021 draft to the #Browns for C Austin Corbett, source said. Paying up for some much-needed O-line help.
