As always, there was plenty of highlights and lowlights in the week three showdown before the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers.

The Rams came out on top and remain unbeaten at 3-0, though this game took its toll by way of injury.

Let’s take a look at the highlight and lowlight of the day:

It’s hard to tell from the broadcast angle, but this may have been a cover-2 or cover-3 assignment by the defense. That’d likely make sense because post-play CB Marcus Peters was seen questioning SS John Johnson III - probably expecting help over the top though there was none. WR Mike Williams did an effective job getting over the top of Peters and made a tremendous grab for a touchdown.

This was a massive play in the game as it put the Rams up by two touchdowns. Throwing an interception just prior to this drive, the Chargers’ offense had the opportunity to start the drive at the 1-yard line. After nearly registering two safeties, the Rams’ special teams unit came to work. ILB Cory Littleton and FS Blake Countess ran a stunt right up the middle of the punt block unit leaving Littleton relatively unblocked and there to make a tremendous block on the punt. Countess had the awareness to scoop and score.

It can be argued that the real lowlight(s) of the day were the sustained injuries by CB’s Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib, as well as KR/PR JoJo Natson.
