Los Angeles Rams vs. Los Angeles Chargers: Final injury report leaves ILB Mark Barron DOUBTFUL third week in a row

It’s looking like the Rams will be without Barron for the third game in a row.

The Los Angeles Rams got a favorable final injury report heading into Week 3 against the Los Angeles Chargers:

The trio of LT Andrew Whitworth, DL Michael Brockers and C John Sullivan are all a go with no new injuries from the week of practice.

And while K Greg Zuerlein still needs a few more weeks at a minimum, there’s no certainty to ILB Mark Barron’s timetable. For the third week in a row, he missed all three practices and is listed DOUBTFUL. His absence doesn’t line up with Head Coach Sean McVay’s previous comments.

In late August, McVay said Barron “has been practicing. He practiced last week. If he had to, he could play, but we had a long-term plan in line for Mark and this is kind of just par for the course for what we anticipated.” Then heading into Week 1, he noted, “It’s not looking great, but we’ve still got some time being that it’s a night kickoff and different things like that, so we’ll see.”

Now two weeks later, things seemingly haven’t improved at all. Given that the play of RG Austin Blythe has pushed him into the starting lineup leaving RG Jamon Brown sidelined, I think it’s fair to begin wondering if there’s something similar going on with Barron. The Rams’ defense was stellar against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2. If the “if it aint broke, don’t fix it” principle applies to Blythe on the OL, perhaps it should apply to the ILBs if they continue to support one of the NFL’s best defenses capably.

As for the Chargers, it’ll be gameday decisions for their injured trio:
