Los Angeles Rams vs. Los Angeles Chargers: Top Week 3 storylines

Is Jared Goff getting enough respect? Who did we just add/cut? Who are these Chargers we’re playing on Sunday? Let’s get into the LA Rams related news!

Greg Zuerlein is out for 3-6 weeks & other roster moves

Before the home opener against the Arizona Cardinals, K Greg Zuerlein injured his groin in warmups and Coach McVay and Coach Bones had to get creative during game — so many two-point conversions! And they even used P Johnny Hekker to kick a 20-yard field goal.

That also means that with Greg the Leg out for 3-6 weeks; because of that, the Rams have brought in last year’s substitute kicker, Sam Ficken.

This Mark Barron injury seems like it’s dragging along slowly, probably because it deals with the achilles, which is a part of the ankle not to be trifled with.

The Rams also cut Brandon Allen, then placed him back on the practice squad while tiny other roster moves were happening: OL Jamon Brown is back on the roster after serving his two-game suspension (while his replacement, Austin Blythe, maybe, possibly stole his job).

And our favorite preseason player, WR KhaDarel Hodge is now on the 53-man roster to serve as a backup to special teams specialist WR JoJo Natson.

The Rams are #1 in most power rankings

The new power rankings are in after the week 2 games and the Rams are looking like the team to beat. How is that going to affect the team on the field? Vinny Bonsignore, as always, has something to say about it.

With only 3 TD passes, Jared Goff’s hype is under-the-radar

Even though the Los Angeles Rams are 2-0 and won both games rather emphatically, the national NFL media is naturally drawn to more flashy accomplishments, such QB Patrick Mahomes II dropping 6 touchdown passes, or even Harvard journeyman QB Ryan Fitzpatrick throwing 4 TDs for the second week in a row. So, what does that mean for young Jared?

Well, you have to search a little harder for proof that our young QB is doing alright. So, that’s what you have me for:

So, what I think J.B. is saying is that we make sure Goff throws for 300+ every game. I’m in!

The battle for LA strikes again

With the Chargers taking the 405 to the 105 to the 110, the national media might not care, but it’s going to be a game that means a lot for both teams. The Chargers have a lot of weapons and TST is already ramping up our coverage of the matchup.

And RB Todd Gurley II wants our fandom to grow, so let’s not disappoint.

Those are the current storylines going into our week 3 home game with the Los Angeles Chargers. Keep checking back with Turf Show Times for more stories as they happen!
