Only two weeks til opening day, time to offer a glimpse into the future and the opening 53. Starting with...
QB(2) Love him or hate him, it;s all about Goff. Besides being wooden in the pocket and too willing to check down, it's
most likely Mannion's last year with the team. Let's go with Allen and save some dough. Perez to PS.
RB(3) Gurley just needs an occasional breather. Brown will get you 3 yards w/ no hole and 4 yards w/ big hole. Kelly
is a cutback/slasher who offers a change of pace. Probably the best runner of the backups is Davis, his bad luck injury
relegates him to the PS.
WR(6) Cooks, Woods, Kupp, Cooper, Thomas, Reynolds. Hodge has played well so far but unless Reynolds injury is
worse than it seems, off to the PS.
TE(3) After Higbee and Everett it's a toss-up. Go with Hemingway because he's a specimen and been a ST stud.
OL(9) Sullivan, Saffold, Blythe, Havenstein, Whitworth, Noteboom, Allen, Demby and Eldrencamp. Cut Brown
Williams, Neary, Lucas and save big money.
DL(6) Donald, Suh, Brockers, Westbrooks, Frankenmyers and SJD. The two rooks have done a solid job and deserve
to jump ahead of Smart and Bryant. Smart to the PS.
LB(11) Contrary to alot of others, I really like this group. No stars but alot of high-motor, football IQ guys. Most played
ST in college. Barron, Littleton, Ebukam, Longacre, Easley, Lawler, Wilson, Kiser, Hager, Scales,Young. Oronkwo
and Howard end up on PS because of injuries.
S(5) Joyner, JJohnson, Christian, Countess. Will go with Holley at 5 but it's a toss-up w/Laguda. Parker has got about
1/2 the snaps of the others. He may be fading. Put Laguda on PS.
CB(5) Talib, Peters, NRC, Hill. Go with NIxon's great speed over Shields pedigree. The kid can help on ST and those
concussions worry me.
ST(3) McQuaide, Hekker, Zuerlein. All-Pros.
PS(10) Perez, Davis, Hodge, Kolone, Mundt, Smart, Howard, Okoronkwo, Laguda, Hatfield.
