2018 Los Angeles Rams training camp: July 27 practice recap

Here’s how Day 2 went down.

Day 2 of Los Angeles Rams training camp shortsfootball was a go! And the throwbacks are now the nowbacks! Well, for five games...but whatever! Blue and yellow, baby!

Sounds like tomorrow’s going to be a bit softer before cranking things up on Sunday.

Injuries

Not a good nugget there for OT Darrell Williams. The battle among the OL depth is going to be one of the most captivating across the roster in camp and through the preseason. We’ll see if this sets him back at all, but that obviously wouldn’t help at all.

Hopefully, this is something that gets completely forgotten about for S Lamarcus Joyner. He was only on the Non-Football Injury list for a day, so I’m hesitant to tie these together.

DE Dominique Easley is still on the mend after tearing his ACL nearly a year ago to the day.

Offense

Fair to assume then QB Brandon Allen is the QB3 and QB Luis Perez is the QB4 for the time being?

Sounds like rookie OL Joseph Noteboom is the current RT2. Does that mean Williams is still in at LT2?

Defense

Rookie DL John Franklin-Myers was the first one tabbed in the absence of DL Aaron Donald who was listed on the Did Not Report list after being unlisted yesterday and by all accounts looked pretty active.

Rookie LB Travin Howard and LB Garrett Sickels got some first-team snaps as well.

With ILB Mark Barron still not quite 100%, it sounds like ILB Ramik Wilson is the ILB3 to provide immediate depth and not rookie ILB Micah Kiser...for now.

Shout out to James from Downtown Rams for covering things on Twitter in such depth today. And if you missed it yesterday, Rams employee and Team Insider Myles Simmons’ 10 observations from practice (here are his 10 from yesterday) should be absolutely required reading.

Soft one tomorrow. Pads on Sunday.

Stay tuned.
