The Los Angeles Rams have place safety Lamarcus Joyner on the non-football injury list (NFI):

Joyner can be pulled from the list whenever he is healthy enough to participate in the beginning of training camp.

Making the transition from nickel cornerback to safety in Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips’ defense was a tremendous move as Joyner put forth his best season as a pro. As Pro Football Focus noted, Joyner was their third-ranked safety in the league with an elite grade of 90.3.

Joyner is in a contract year (again) as the Rams and Joyner’s camp couldn’t come to an agreement on a long-term contract, electing to slap the safety with the franchise tag. Joyner will earn $11.287 million on the tag this season.

The injury has not been revealed, though it doesn’t sound like anything to worry about. The Rams had their conditioning test take place on Wednesday.

Hopefully Joyner will return soon.
