2018 Los Angeles Rams Roster Preview: S LaMarcus Joyner tagged and bagged

This is what you call the sure thing. The question is for how long the Rams will have him around...

NFL: Los Angeles Rams at Arizona Cardinals Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Los Angeles Rams S Lamarcus Joyner enters year five as one of the highest graded safeties from the 2017 season.

As it stands, he’s playing the year on the franchise tag and is in line for a huge pay day during the 2019 offseason. The question is who will deliver him that payday.

With 2018 set up to be a huge season for the Rams and LMJ, it is safe to say he's living the good life.

Expectations

Joyner is headed into his second season with Wade Phillips as the Rams’ Defensive Coordinator. Coming off two back-to-back really strong seasons (with 2017 being his best by far), Joyner looks poised to maintain his high level of play. There’s very little reason if any at all to believe there will be a drop off in his play.

Roster battle

There is no battle. His lone threat to his job his health. As long as he is healthy, Joyner will start and play a significant amount of snaps.

Chances of making the roster (10/10)

This is one of the easiest you will find. It is a 100% guarantee Joyner is on the 53-man roster, barring injury or some shocking blockbuster trade.

His season really revolves around if he becomes a leader in the secondary with CB Marcus Peters and CB Aqib Talib in front of him and how this season plays into his future as a potential free agent.
