If you want to make a scolding hot take on who will make the Los Angeles Rams 53-man roster, you can most definitely get some “I’m sorry, what the hell did you just say” looks if you mention TE Henry Krieger-Coble. First off, the guy’s name makes it sound like he’s a child actor, but one of those kids who just does JC Penny catalogs, wears a lot of kid fedoras and eventually grows into the type of guy who scalps tickets for the band Poison. Plus, he’s an undrafted free agent out of Iowa University, first signed by the Denver Broncos in 2016, then scooped up last year by the Indianapolis Colts, and finally landing with the Rams last January.
In his short career in the NFL, Krieger-Coble has one catch for 13 yards. Most of his time has been spent on the practice squad. However, the guy is 6-4 and 248 pounds, so he can fit in the uniform. But what else?
His flaws are going to be killer though, as his lack of good run blocking probably led to him to not being drafted in the 2016 NFL draft. He’s not a great athlete and doesn’t use his size as well as he should. So, besides the quirky name, I would not expect big things from Mr. Krieger-Coble.
The tight end situation with the Rams 53-man roster is pretty much set in stone, with Gerald Everett, Tyler Higbee, and Temarrick Hemingway leading the charge, so some major injuries will have to pop up for good ol’ Henry to get a shot. But to be fair, the Rams could choose to keep four tight ends on the team; which means TE Codey McElroy and TE Johnny Mundt will be his main competition in camp.
He’s from Iowa, so I expect some good manners.
Chances of Making Final Roster (1-10)
If Henry Krieger-Coble is out there on the field in a Rams jersey this season, that means that some messed up stuff has happened with our tight ends — so let’s hope that didn’t happen.
Best of luck to Henry Krieger-Coble, though.
