2018 Los Angeles Rams Roster Preview: TE Temarrick Hemingway is ready to write the next chapter of his career

After losing his sophomore season to injury, can Hemingway thrive in McVay’s offense?

Los Angeles Rams TE Temarrick Hemingway was looking forward to a break out sophomore season under new Head Coach Sean McVay, but life had other plans.

Hemingway suffered a broken fibula in the loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in the third preseason game, ending his 2017 season.

Now healthy, will he be able to climb the depth chart to a number two spot, or will he further solidify his number three spot?

Roster Battle

At this point, I don’t think much has changed since last year at this time for Hemingway. Second-year TE Gerald Everett and TE Tyler Higbee are likely secure in their TE1 and TE2 positions. There’s little challenge coming from TE Johnny Mundt (roster preview), and while TE Henry Krieger-Coble (roster preview) might be able to provide more competition, I don’t think there will much of a battle for the TE3 spot if Hemingway returns at 100%.

Expectations

Even as the TE3, there should be enough work to go around in McVay’s offense. I don’t see him being starved for snaps this season, and I think he’ll be able to shine. Having missed his chance to break out last season, he’ll be even more hungry this season.

Chances of making the final roster (9/10)

Consider Hemingway a relative lock for the final roster. Besides another injury (which would be a crazy stroke of bad luck), there’s no way he doesn’t see action this season.
