It’s Day 2 of minicamp for the Los Angeles Rams which is also the last day of minicamp. Head Coach Sean McVay said yesterday at his press availability the Rams will forego the last day of camp (as they did last year) and tour the construction site of the LA Stadium and Entertainment District at Hollywood Park.
Performance
We got a couple good nuggets. Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips has tabbed his starting outside linebackers in EDGE Matt Longacre and EDGE Samson Ebukam:
Speaking of linebackers, Wade Phillips said Samson Ebukam “certainly” will be a starter on the outside, and indicated Matt Longacre would be in line for the other spot when healthy.

And indeed it will likely be ILB Cory Littleton next to ILB Mark Barron:
Wade Phillips says Cory Littleton, having been moved to MLB, has been calling the defensive signals in practice.

Overall, these aren’t too surprising. We talked about the linebacking corps back in late April ahead of the 2018 NFL Draft and the likelihood that the Rams already had their starting linebackers on the roster at that point.
We also got good news about K Greg Zuerlein:
Special teams coach John Fassel opined that Greg Zuerlein probably could kick in a game this week if the Rams had one. Full speed for camp, it seems, after December back surgery.

Of course, that “probably” qualifier means he’d have to push it as things stand. So I wouldn’t expect K Sam Ficken to take off just yet. You do have to wonder if the appropriate timetable for GZ’s return might extend into the regular season out of an abundance of caution.
Health
No issues yesterday. Pray for none today.
