We’ve got a pair of roster moves for the Los Angeles Rams today:
OLB Carlos Thompson, placed on IR
We learned on Tuesday that the Rams had waived Thompson, and I wanted to pull it into its own piece because I was pretty surprised at the move. Just former Rams DE William Hayes or CB Troy Hill, Thompson was in position to climb up the position depth chart as the favored backup behind OLB Matt Longacre and OLB Samson Ebukam, the expected starters. The timing of the move was really unusual.
But now we have the reason that motivated it. No word on the injury or the severity, but to go on IR in May isn’t a great sign. Perhaps we’ll get word on the injury next week when the Rams hit Phase III of the offseason program and begin organized team activities.
DT Dalton Keene, waived
We didn’t get much of a chance to know Keene who just signed on Tuesday.
The move opens up a roster spot, so perhaps the Rams will bring back FB Sam Rogers or RB Lenard Tillery who were moved on Tuesday to open this spot in the first place.
