With their final pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, pick #244 overall, the Los Angeles Rams select:
SMU Mustangs Edge Justin Lawler
Again, as it seems to be the theme, the Rams continue to address the front-seven of their defense. With Robert Quinn and Connor Barwin not returning, and Matt Longacre recovering from a back injury, the Rams realized a need for some help and selected Lawler.
Lawler is a highly productive edge who totaled 9.5 sacks last season. Lawler like many of the Rams 2018 selections was a four-year player in college.
I like the idea of continuing to add competition at edge. Obviously this was a late pick and a total dart throw, but Lawler was a productive CFB player and has pretty good OLB size at 6’4” and 265 lbs.
The more competition the Rams add at OLB, the better their pass rush will come out of it post-training camp.
