Well, we’ve certainly drafted some linebackers!
The Los Angeles Rams added their fourth linebacker of the draft by selecting TCU Horned Frogs LB Travin Howard with the 231st pick of the 2018 NFL Draft.
Here’s NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein’s scouting report on Howard:
Alrighty then.
Well, he’s certainly racked up the accolades:
- 2015 Honorable-Mention All-Big 12
- 2016 Valero Alamo Bowl Defensive MVP
- 2016 First-Team All-Big 12
- 2016 First-Team Associated Press All-Big 12
- 2017 Valero Alamo Bowl Defensive MVP
- 2017 First-Team All-Big 12
- 2017 Second-Team AP All-Big 12
- 2017 Honorable-Mention Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year
He’s certainly been productive. Howard leaves Ft. Worth as the only player in TCU history to to lead the team in tackles for three consecutive seasons. So I think he’s going to carry more hype than many seventh-round linebackers will.
The question is where he’ll be used and how he’ll handle the step up in competition.
Grade: B
I wouldn’t be surprised if he comes out as a late-draft gem.
