Almost done with the 2018 NFL Draft. The Los Angeles Rams have two seventh-rounders to shore up before heading into the undrafted free agent waters and they’ve just spent their first:

TCU Horned Frogs LB Travin Howard

It’s an interesting pick. Howard was a bit of a flex linebacker/safety hybrid, so he brings some versatility. I do wonder what role the Rams would be looking for him to play on defense, though this could be a special teams play. We know Special Teams Coordinator John Fassel likes linebackers and safeties with speed. Ray Ray Armstrong, Daren Bates, Chase Reynolds, Cody Davis... We’ll have to see if that’s the prime option here.

If it’s for linebacking depth, he’s going to be in a thick battle. The Rams have taken an inside linebacker in Virginia Cavaliers ILB Micah Kiser and two outside linebackers in Oklahoma Sooners EDGE Ogbonnia Okoronkwo and Louisville Cardinals EDGE Trevon Young. I wonder if they’d push Howard outside or keep him in the middle. Really not sure of the fit.

We’ll find out soon.

And with that, we’ve got one final pick to wrap up the 2018 NFL Draft!
