With their first pick in the sixth round (#176 overall), the Los Angeles Rams select:
Tennessee Volunteers RB John Kelly
A tremendous pick here by the Rams for multiple reasons. Kelly is a similar player to Alvin Kamara who was his teammate just one year ago in terms of balance and ability to stay upright. Kelly has the ability to run the ball inside and outside of the tackle, as well as the ability to catch the football.
His immediate fit is as a third-down RB to spell starter Todd Gurley. Not only that, but Kelly can help keep Gurley fresh by stealing a handful of carries here or there.
Kelly’s best ability is his toughness, compact frame, low center of gravity, ability to stay upright, and his ability to make defenders miss in open space.
