Just before the Los Angeles Rams begin their offseason training program, Safety Lamarcus Joyner will sign his franchise tag offer:
#Rams S Lamarcus Joyner is signing his $11.287M franchise tag today before taking part in the beginning of the team’s offseason condition, per @SunnyTheAgent. A big plus that he’ll be in the mix all offseason.

This was the expected outcome all along, nevertheless it’s always good to have the confirmation. Joyner came off a move to S for the 2017 season and it repaid the Rams in a big way. Turning in an elite season in his first at S, the Rams identified Joyner as a key player who they wanted to retain, choosing to tag him over WR Sammy Watkins who ultimately left in free agency.
Joyner will be a part of the offseason moving forward, which is obviously big for a secondary that added multiple new pieces to the mix. Having chemistry in the secondary is vital, and Joyner showing up for offseason activities ensures that himself, John Johnson, Marcus Peters, Nickell Robey-Coleman, Aqib Talib, and Sam Shields have time to grow as a unit.
Aaron Donald watch will continue, though it’s expected he will be a no-show at the beginning of the teams offseason conditioning program today.
