It’s hard not to look beyond today. The legal tampering period ahead of free agency begins a week from today. Free agency begins in earnest just two days later, a week from Wednesday. And once that wave resets roster needs, the 2018 NFL Draft is coming in less than two months.
We’re going to barrel through this gauntlet. Hell, we’ve already begun. Trades bringing in CB Marcus Peters and bidding adieu to EDGE Robert Quinn have already modified roster needs. The early major signings of new players and the re-signing of key Rams free agents will have even more impact on the personnel outlook.
I say all that only to ensure we don’t discount the prospects in action today out of some complacency with the secondary. We sincerely don’t know what it will look like in two weeks.
