The Los Angeles Rams haven’t been quiet in the 2018 offseason. Far from it. They sent notable starters Robert Quinn and Alec Ogletree packing, and (finally) ended the ongoing contract saga with cornerback Trumaine Johnson.
But it’s been far more than simply letting players go. They’ve also acquired standout defensive players like Marcus Peters, Aqib Talib (who have combined for 7 pro bowls) and Sam Shields to bolster their secondary. And on Monday they signed dominant defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh to a one-year deal.
It’s impressive what they’ve accomplished...to some. But apparently not to 49ers’ wide receiver Pierre Garcon.
Not only does Garcon note that the Peters-Talib duo can’t stop him and fellow wideout Marquise Goodwin, but he goes on to suggest the Rams keep winning the offseason “on paper.” It’s certainly a shot at how unimpressed he is with what the Rams are assembling on defense.
The 49ers finished the 2017 season with an impressive 5-game win streak -- which included a Week 17 win in Los Angeles (against the Rams’ backups). Jimmy Garoppolo looks to be legit, and the revival of a meaningful Rams-49ers rivalry is in full swing.
Buckle up. Rams vs. 49ers in 2018 is shaping up to be must-see football.
