Roughly a year ago, the Los Angeles Rams brought in C John Sullivan to fill a void along the offensive line. The Rams hoped that his familiarity with Head Coach Sean McVay’s offensive system would jump start the Rams offense. The move paid off in a big way as Sullivan was rated as a top 10 center by PFF.
Fast forward, and Sullivan is again a free agent. After a successful year with the Rams, he is drawing interest from a couple of NFC East teams:
#Rams veteran C John Sullivan was invited on a visit by the #Giants, source said, as they continue to try to improve their OL. He’s drawing interest from the #Redskins, too.

The interest makes sense as Sullivan has a history with Washington and the New York Giants are looking to re-make their offensive line. The familiarity with McVay played a part in bringing Sullivan to the Rams, but he was never looked at as a long term option at center. He’s 32-years old and was only ever intended to be a bridge to a younger option.
That’s not to say that the Rams shouldn’t try to retain Sullivan, but the Rams would be wise to pair him with a youngster if he’s brought back. Another option would be targeting Mike Pouncey, who is to be released by the Miami Dolphins today, per Adam Schefter.

Pouncey is four years younger than Sullivan, but would undoubtedly be a lot more pricey as well. It will be interesting to see how the Rams approach these new developments as free agency progresses.
