The Los Angeles Rams third string TE Derek Carrier is off to the Oakland Raiders per Ian Rapoport:
TE Derek Carrier and the Oakland #Raiders agree to a 3yr deal, source said. From Jay Gruden to Jon Gruden in 12 months. #Gruden
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) March 13, 2018
The exact terms of the deal haven’t been revealed yet, but there is hope that Carrier may be able to fetch the Rams a late-round compensatory pick in 2019.
Carrier was originally traded for by Head Coach Sean McVay, as the two spent time together in Washington. When Temarrick Hemingway went down with what turned out to be a season-ending injury in preseason, the Rams identified an open spot on the roster and traded a seventh round pick to secure his services.
Carrier operated as a blocker for the Rams, only securing eight receptions for 71 yards.
With the Rams being deservedly high on Gerald Everett, and having a good blocking TE in Tyler Higbee on the roster, Carrier became expendable. Expect Hemingway to return as the Rams third TE next season.
Stay tuned for updates on the compensation.
