It has always been painfully obvious to Los Angeles Rams fans (and those in St Louis during Donald’s earlier years) that Aaron Donald is a very, very special player. Unfortunately he failed to get any national attention due to the Rams futility in recent years - and was often labeled “the best defender not named J.J. Watt.”
While the Rams turnaround this season plays a part in Donald getting more recognition, it would be foolish to credit anything other than his stellar play for his ascension in the eyes of the mainstream media.
Destructive Donald.@AaronDonald97 is the 2017 Defensive Player of the Year!

This is the first time a member of the Rams has won the Associated Press DPOY award, but the Rams have a very rich history of linemen winning such awards. Donald joins teammate Robert Quinn (2013 Pro Football Writers) and the likes of Jack Youngblood and Deacon Jones in Rams lore.
Congrats Mr. Donald. You’ve certainly earned this.
