Game updates

1st quarter

  • Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky is cutting open the Rams’ defense early. An early scramble preceded a first down pickup on...3rd and 11. Not a great sign.
  • INTERCEPTION Marcus Peters !!!
  • But the Rams squander the opportunity inside the redzone. Bottled up run, dumpoff to WR Brandin Cooks and then a third down pressure from Khalil Mack.
  • Chip shot from K Greg Zuerlein good.
  • Rams 3, Bears 0
  • Rams put Bears in 2nd and 21 and still can’t get the stop. RB Tarik Cohen starting to carve up the defense.
  • Great move from EDGE Dante Fowler Jr. to get pressure on Trubisky on 3rd down as DL John Franklin-Myers comes in to clean things up for the sack. Bears K Cody Parkey nails the chip shot.
  • Rams 3, Bears 3
  • Both teams trade possessions. Defenses settling in.

2nd quarter

  • There’s a game changer. Goff drops back to pass, but right as he releases he’s bumped into by LT Andrew Whitworth and the ball just floats for an easy pick. Bears inside the red zone to start...
  • Rams get the stop, though. Need to get the Goffense going...
  • Rams 3, Bears 6
  • Nothing from the offense again, though you have to wonder why McVay is passing so heavily thus far.
  • HEKKFAKE!!! And while we nearly had another first down misspotted, they get this one right on replay. The drive continues...
  • Stalls out though. Rams get into 3rd and 10 situation and call a WR screen. Seems like a bit of a capitulation for McVay right now. The offense is struggling, and this seemed like giving into the field goal instead of risking catastrophe.
  • GZ nails it from 50.
  • Rams 6, Bears 6
  • Punt. Punt. Pick. Pick. This is a game where both defense are dominating. Unusual for the Rams, but hey. Tie ballgame. Someone has to win.
