UPDATE: Rams RB Todd Gurley OUT against Arizona Cardinals

After being projected to play, Gurley will be shut down for Week 16.

NFL: Philadelphia Eagles at Los Angeles Rams Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Earlier today, Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley was trending towards playing. After some further thinking, it seems the Rams and Gurley decided to not rush the star running back into action.

Gurley wasn’t feeling great according to ESPN’s NFL Insider, Adam Schefter, and will miss today’s contest. With the inactive list finalized, it is official. Gurley will miss the contest.

If the Rams were somehow to clinch the bye after this week, this decision could help Gurley get very close to 100% health as Gurley could rest for 3 of the next 4 weeks.

With Gurley out, all signs point towards newly signed C.J. Anderson to be the starter while John Kelly would serve as his backup.

Anderson, Kelley, and Davis are the active backs today. More than likely, Anderson will be given a good portion of the work as the Rams look to get break their losing streak against the Arizona Cardinals.

Get well soon Mr. Gurley!
