UPDATED: Cleveland Browns fire HC Hue Jackson. The odds-on favorite to replace him? Los Angeles Rams HC Sean McVay.

The odds have McBae heading home to Ohio after just two seasons with the Rams...

NFL: Los Angeles Rams at Seattle Seahawks Joe Nicholson-USA TODAY Sports

The Cleveland Browns fired Head Coach Hue Jackson and Offensive Coordinator Todd Haley today, a predictable outcome as early as episode 1 of Hard Knocks.

Reports initially clashed over who was taking over as interim head coach: former Rams Defensive Coordinator Gregg Williams or former Rams Offensive Coordinator Al Saunders.

Beyond the immediacies, there’s the issue of the 2019 coaching carousel now getting kickstarted. The Browns now have a multi-week lead over any other NFL team in looking for a new head coach. I’m not sure how much of an advantage it gives them, but it certainly allows them to kick the wheels on the narrative wagon. Already, you had Oklahoma Sooners Head Coach Lincoln Riley being asked about the opening.

But jaw-droppingly, the favorite to take over for Jackson in 2019 per new odds from BetOnline.ag?

Los Angeles Rams Head Coach Sean McVay.

Yikes.

And maybe nearly as interesting is that the third-favorite is Rams Quarterbacks Coach Zac Taylor who was just promoted from assistant wide receivers coach last season after stints as offensive coordinator with the Miami Dolphins in 2015 and Cincinnati Bearcats in 2016.

I get that McBae’s a hot commodity. He turned the Rams around last year en route to being named the 2017 NFL Coach of the Year. And having pushed the Rams out to 8-0 with an early, defining call to go for out on 4th and 1 in Seattle has even upped his profile nationally. And with his roots in Ohio, I can understand these odds.

But no, dog. Just no.

Now get the hell off my property.
