In arguably the least surprising news on planet Earth, the Los Angeles Rams have decided to cut kicker Sam Ficken and plan to sign a new placeholder at kicker until starter Greg Zuerlein returns:
Rams are releasing kicker Sam Ficken and intend to sign another veteran to kick until Greg Zuerlein is recovered from his groin injury, per source.

Ficken was was 1-for-3 on field goals this season with misses from 28 yards and 46 yards. Ficken actually proved to have some ability as he didn’t miss a single extra point going 10-for-10, but he was simply incapable of hitting simple field goals which are required from kickers.
The Rams are looking to replace Ficken with another free agent until Zuerlein is ready to return. Our Sean Wilkinson just recently posted an article taking a look at some potential options.
Just yesterday Head Coach Sean McVay stated that Zuerlein might be able to go on Sunday versus the Seattle Seahawks, though that isn’t decided yet.
Keep on the lookout for an update on who the Rams might add.
UPDATE:

UPDATE #2:
The Rams have officially signed Cairo Santos as the temporary kicker:
Update: #Rams are signing K Cairo Santos, source says. Temp job for him because Greg Zierlein is close to returning but a chance for Santos in the meantime.
