While it’s been assumed for quite a while, it wasn’t until today that it was made official — Los Angeles Rams QB Jared Goff has been selected for the 2018 Pro Bowl in place of Philadelphia Eagles QB Carson Wentz.
What a difference a year makes.
At this time in 2017, most were wondering what to make of Goff after a disastrous career. Some were already comfortable placing the “bust” tag on him. Instead, Head Coach Sean McVay and a slew of crucial personnel changes arrived to modify the entire landscape for Goff. His 3,804 passing yards and 28 passing touchdowns with just seven interceptions now set a completely different bar moving forward.
Yes, there will be questions about how high the bar should continue to rise and whether or not Goff will be able to continue to clear it, but his 2017 season should be celebrated by Rams fans on its own. His Pro Bowl selection is a clear testament to as much.
Congrats, Jared!
