Joe (@3k_) and myself (@MightyOrMisone) review the Los Angeles Rams’ Thursday night showdown with the 49ers.
Somehow someway, these two teams will always find a way to play each other tough, regardless of how well or how bad the other team is playing. I guess that’s what rivalries do — they bring the best out of you. Thursday night was a nail biter. A suspenseful game that kept you on the edge of your seat. Just when it seemed the Rams were going to pull away, the 49ers came stomping back into it.
Thank goodness for DT Aaron Donald...
Joe and I also discussed how good can QB Jared Goff be. As I have stated all offseason long, i have never seen a team use the formula of getting an offensively minded coach with an experienced and successful offensively minded staff, go get weapons and build an offensive line, all after drafting a young QB early and fail. Teams that focus on building 100% around their young QB have an insanely high success rate.
Also, is it a coincidence that we just saw Goff and RB Todd Gurley have their best career games on the same night? Joe and I say no way. This was by far the best performance the world has seen from a Rams offensive line in years. Can they continue it? And who has been the biggest surprise?
With all the success on offense, the defense has been woefully bad. Joe and I talk about ways to fix it, and how far defensive coordinator Wade Phillips might be willing to go to make it work.
Also, Gurley made a bold claim on live television in front of the world. He told former Dallas Cowboys and HOF WR Michael Irvin that the Rams are going to “whoop” the Cowboys. We discuss what needs to happen to support his claim as well as juicy match-ups to watch for.
Even with me sick and Joe just being Joe, we were able to put together a good show. And you definitely will not want to miss who we believe is a better RB prospect than Gurley, Leonard Fournette, Ezekiel Elliott, Christian McCaffrey, and Melvin Gordon.
