2017 Los Angeles Rams Training Camp: August 5 Joint Practice Recap

The Rams had their first joint practice today while you were watching Kurt Warner’s Hall of Fame enshrinement. Here’s what you missed

The Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers met for the first time as co-habitants of LA today.

First and foremost there is an elephant in the room I’m gonna address.....

This is a really bad look for Kroenke. I get he went to the dinner, but this is a black eye on the franchise in my opinion. If you want to win the hearts and minds of fans, support your former greats to the utmost of you ability.

That being said..... off to practice

The Chargers are ready to wrestle for the hearts of LA fans.

Credit Rams fans for showing up in enemy territory though.

I’m trying to give the team the benefit of the doubt, but this is......not good.

The Aaron Donald Situation

This is a wee bit ridiculous. I completely agree that Aaron Donald is being underpaid, but does anyone remember Sam Bradford’s rookie contract? What about Ndomakong Suh? This rookie wage scale may be a little broken, but it’s MUCH less broken than the old system. (Steps off soap box)

Possible optimism about a new deal?

Injuries

This continues to slide downhill for the Rams, who can’t seem to shake the injury bug early in camp.

No reason given for Joyner being sidelined. Hopefully we get an update soon from McVay.

Well that’s a step in the right direction.....

McVay’s Offense

This is fan-freaking-tastic news. Hopefully Gurley can get back on track and rip off some explosive runs and ease pressure off Jared Goff.

Worth noting that Cooper is getting the snaps vacated by Tavon Austin’s absence.

The roller coaster continues for Jared Goff. I want to see him do this in full-contact though.

Goff finding one of his security blankets.

YAISSSSSSSSSSSSS

Cue fans panicking.

Yup, he’s still more comfortable in this situation. Curley doesn’t specify, but I’d wager it was mostly out of the shotgun.

Build this kids confidence by keeping him clean. I like it.

Wade’s Defense

I appreciate the ferocity, but this isn’t helping the Rams ‘dirty team’ label.

This point of emphasis could pay dividends by a Rams secondary that has gotten roasted in the past by going for the big INT instead of a simple pass deflection.

Webster may be losing ground to E.J. Gaines in the CB battle....

Then again, maybe not.

E.J. not doing himself any favors either. If this is going to be a strength in 2017, these guys need to pick up their play.

Bones’ Special Teams

Just Johnny Hekker up to his usual shenanigans.

Gotta say, I’m surprised that Cooper isn’t returning punts.

Legatron NEEDS to find that consistency in 2017.
