Say “Jeezy”, and most people likely think of the Snowman, Young Jeezy. Among Los Angeles Rams fans though, we’re talking about someone else entirely: Greg Zuerlein aka Young GZ aka Greg the Leg aka Legatron. The man. The myth. The legend.
The sixth-round pick from the 2012 NFL Draft, GZ has been the Rams kicker now for five seasons. Hopefully that streak will extend itself. Known for having a cannon of a leg, GZ’s accuracy wavered a bit in 2014 and plummeted in 2015 missing 10 kicks (though six of those were beyond the 50-yard mark). Last year though, GZ had a bit of a comeback year missing just three kicks, just one of which was shorter than 50-yard tries.
Roster Battle
No. There is none. It’s all in on GZ. The Rams haven’t even brought on a camp kicker this year unlike last year when they had Texas A&M K Taylor Bertolet in to push GZ. Perhaps a year without competition will allow him to settle in.
Expectations
He’ll kick.
Kidding aside, hopefully Greg can up his accuracy further. If that tends to be the case, he’ll likely not only play out the 3-year contract extension he signed back in March, but might even get an extension afterwards.
Chances of Making Roster (10/10)
With no other kickers on the roster, GZ is a lock.
